  On our first Sunday at St. Edward, February 16, 2014, Fr. Ron Belisle administered the Blessing of the Sick to everyone in the Church who was in need of it. My dear husband was among them. We didn't know it then, but he was dying from cancer.
  The joy that my husband carried away with him that day, just because of that blessing, was immense! Whether anyone knew us or not, because we had just moved to Shelton the week before, that blessing made us feel like we belonged there. We were home!
  On the following Sunday, before beginning Mass, Fr. Belisle recognized us as returning (visitors?) and walked up to us to welcome us to St. Edward's, and introduced us to the congregation.
  Realizing we were permanent fixtures, we were, at once, met by several parishioners and invited to breakfasts and warmly welcomed at the conclusion of that Mass. It was, and still is, wonderful!
  St. Edward's Catholic Church is a model of perfect Catholic Community. The priests (Fr. Belisle and retired priest, Fr. Richard Parle) emit God's love in their individual and congregational greetings and in their homilies.
  I believe, if you studied long enough, one could see illumine from them the Grace of Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
  When my husband, Charles, was no longer strong enough to attend Mass, Fr. Belisle wasted no time in seeing that he received the Blessing of the Sick and was put on a regular schedule for receipt of Holy Eucharist. After a short time, we were both receiving Holy Communion on a daily basis.
  That single act of love was most appreciated by both Charles and me as it brought Charles much needed peace. He never complained about his condition, though I know he was in pain; and, he began looking forward to seeing Christ Jesus "face to face".
  Eventually, Charles was to receive the Sacrament of Last Rites, and then Fr. Belisle came to our home to bless my husband's body, October 4, 2014.
  Fr. Belisle gave up a day of his personal vacation to see to Charles' Funeral Mass.
  Anyone looking for a "home" parish, will definitely find it in St. Edward's in Shelton, WA.
